GIS Engineer
GIS Administrator Engineer required to manage and maintain our spatial data infrastructure.
GIS Data Management
- Maintain and manage spatial datasets using ESRI ArcGIS to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure spatial data meets project needs and deadlines.
- Perform analysis tasks like buffering and spatial joins to aid asset management.
- Design and implement solutions for organising spatial and non-spatial data.
- Use FME software and Python scripting to automate workflows.
Map Creation and Visualisation
- Collaborate with IT to maintain GIS tools and systems.
- Create thematic maps and visualisations with ArcGIS software.
- Develop web maps and dashboards for data exploration.
Integration and Automation
- Use FME to connect various data sources to the Asset Management System
- Set up and maintain data workflows/pipelines for seamless data access.
- Create geoprocessing services for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Validate GIS data for accuracy and reliability.
- Write clear documentation for processes and data.
- Ensure data security and reliability standards are met.
Technical Support and Training
- Provide support and troubleshoot GIS-related issues for users.
- Conduct training sessions to help teams use GIS tools effectively.
Selection criteria:
- Relevant tertiary-level qualifications (Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science or similar)
- 5+ years as a GIS specialist with proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS products
- Strong knowledge of spatial data management, geoprocessing techniques and spatial data analysis methodologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with ESRI Geoprocessing Services, Map Services, and web mapping technologies
- General experience with Python and cx Oracle library experience
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, Git/SVN
