  • Experience using the ESRI suite of products such as ArGIS Enterprise and ArGIS Desktop.
  • Knowledge and experience working with geospatial data within an ArcGIS Enterprise portal environment and ArcPRO Desktop.
  • Knowledge of Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) particularly in the automation of processes.
  • Knowledge of the production of visualisations and mapping for use within the Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force) and in court.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor team members as well as consult with key stakeholders to develop collaborative partnerships.

There are currently two (2) permanent full-time opportunities available.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This role identifies, assesses, acquires and manipulates spatial data to ensure data completeness, currency, quality, industry standards and integrity. Develops and maintains Geographic Information System (GIS) systems used in the agency including supporting and training users in the use of these systems. As a GIS subject matter expert, produces complex custom spatial analyses, visualisations and mapping for use within the Western Australia Police Force and in court.

The position is based in the Perth CBD, conveniently close to public transport and with excellent end of trip facilities.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants are asked to provide a statement (maximum of 2 pages) outlining the transferable skills and experience you can bring to GIS Analyst/Data Administrator role.  Please ensure you consider the context requirements of the Essential Work-Related Requirements as outlined in the attached Position Description.

Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicants decline or vacate the advertised positions, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
