Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a GIS & Data Officer, to join the Digital, Data, & Operations team. Are you looking to get started in a career in geospatial? Are you someone who understands the complexities of geospatial data, is confident using GIS software, and can problem-solve using innovative techniques?

Your key responsibilities in this role would be to ensure a focus on delivering the priorities of the Metro Mayor by:

  • Ensuring high data quality across various inputs and outputs
  • Developing our geospatial data catalogue
  • Supporting teams & projects from across the organisation
  • Completing GIS & data work in a timely & professional manner
  • Providing technical expertise and problem solving to a range of challenges
  • Working as part of a team and independently when required

A typical day may involve monitoring the GIS email inbox, responding to GIS or data requests, populating our central GIS data catalogue, processing & curating datasets, providing technical expertise and advice to other business areas, using dedicated time for professional development, and other varied and dynamic tasks.

Interviews will be held on the week commencing October 14th 2024. A short technical GIS test (QGIS or ArcGIS available) will form part of the assessment. The closing date of this advert may be shortened or extended depending on number of applications.
