POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Marine Project Manager, the Senior GIS Coordinator will work with various partners, communities, and Government departments to ensure that Program needs for GIS Information are met on a day-to-day basis. The position liaises with international and local partners on data excess, ongoing maintenance, and dissemination of data and applications in the GIS environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate transformative GIS spatial data collection (field and desktop), including collection and sharing, maintenance and dissemination, end-user support, and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and related mapping information products.
- Coordinate the compilation and systematic organization of GIS data storage systems from maps, databases and other sources, and conversion of mapping resources and data to CI Geo Database formatting systems.
- Coordinate GIS data input and editing of terrestrial and marine mapping requirements in CI programs through manual analysis, report creation, and outlining the thematic GIS data maps to support CI impact indicator tracking in respective sites.
- To extend the useability through innovative illustrations of GIS data utilizing high technology styles and state-of-the-art methods of presentations, e.g., 3D virtual models off and below-ground illustrations.
- Direct the preparation of regular status reports, highlighting GIS issues requiring attention at national intervention as approved by the Manager.

- Occasionally required to work beyond normal office hours to meet deadlines and handle workload.
- Occasionally may be required to be in the field to collect data and information, as necessary.
- Required to extensively work in collaboration with other partners to gather data, undertake analysis, share findings, and expected to represent CI Fiji to local and international meetings from time to time

Required
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Land Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 to 4 years of experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in developing and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products including the use of ESRI software and Global Positioning System (G.P.S) units for data collection.
- Experience in analyzing spatial data in natural resources (including but not limited to forest, agriculture, and fisheries) and translating technical staff requirements into appropriate GIS reports and thematic maps.
- Knowledge of modern component-based GIS tools and methodology for natural resources GIS use cases.
- Collect and analyze remote sensing data from satellite and aerial sources. Process and interpret imagery to extract relevant information for various applications. Develop and apply algorithms for image analysis and data extraction.
- Knowledge in converting dataset files to ArcGIS.
- Knowledge in the use of GPS in the field and being able to download points into thematic maps or story maps.
- Knowledge of SQL Databases and ArcGIS Enterprise Server is an asset.
- Knowledge of drone operations and imagery recording
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
